The Man Behind The Foundation

David Iery was injured in a baseball accident in 1989 in Grayson, Kentucky. He was paralyzed from the chest down after sliding into home plate head first.

30 years later he has worked together with the community and his army of volunteers to lead a powerful and unique movement. With Ten Plus years of history organizing community events involving Spinal Cord Injury and Baseball Awareness, he decided to start The David Iery Foundation in 2017. The foundation is comprised of community leaders and volunteers.

In 2019, The David Iery Foundation hosted The David Iery Showcase, The David Iery Classic in Boys and Girls, The DIF Bass Tournament, DIF Night Lex, Cincinnati Reds David Iery Day, and the Diamond Dinner - all with the purpose to raise awareness about the foundation and our goals.

2021 is going to be a big year for us and we're excited to share our journey with you!

DIF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Promoting High School Baseball and Spinal Cord Injury Awareness through an Annual Scholarship giveaway at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington, Kentucky - awarding over $1,250 last year.

SCI AWARENESS & BASEBALL

Bringing more awareness to Spinal Cord Injury Research and Baseball through various events annually. The First Annual David Iery Showcase, 7th Annual David Iery Classic, DIF Bass Tournament, 6th Annual David Iery Day, and Diamond Dinner 2018 were all examples of events we've had this year. All revolving around SCI Awareness, Community Involvement, and staying active.

FUNDING SCI RESEARCH

Curing paralysis is the ultimate goal. David was told in 1989 that it would be cured in 10 years, 30 years later and still there is nothing. We want to work together with the community and take an annual donation to The Miami Project in Miami, Florida. One of the most advanced facilities of its kind in the world.
